"We take energy for granted. Fuel shortages and power cuts are rare, but timely, reminders that we rely on energy for transport, for heating our homes in winter, cooling them in summer and running our factories, farms and offices. But many energy resources are finite. In addition, energy use is often a source of pollution. Sustainable development means using less fossil fuel more intelligently and developing alternatives. "

Annan urges green energy "revolution"

United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan on Wednesday called for
a "revolution in energy efficiency," saying the world needs greener
technologies and more investment in renewable energy sources.
Speaking at the launch of the three-day High-Level Segment of the
Commission on Sustainable Development in New York, Annan urged more
use of traditional renewables such as wind, hydro and solar energy,
and he called for more research into new approaches, including tidal
energy and ocean thermal conversion.

Dear Visitor;

The Center for Energy Efficiency (CEEF) in B&H is a non-profit, member supported organization that began its work as an action under the USAID funded MUNEE Programe in May 2002. Center is officially established in June 2005 with the aim of promoting rational use of energy sources and improvement of energy efficiency in B&H.

With our work we aim to:

TO REDUCE the burden of energy expenditures on a municipal, cantonal, entity and state level budgets in B&H

TO DESIGN and implementing leak detection and other water-loss reduction programs

TO FACILITATE work of the network of B&H municipalities concerned with energy and water efficiency problems

TO PROVIDE capacity building in the field of rational use of energy and water to in Bosnia and Herzegovina

TO IMPROVE energy efficiency performance (in housing, public administration, industry, transport, etc.) in B&H

TO COLLECT, process, analyze, evaluate and disseminate B&H energy and water efficiency indicators

TO ASSIST B&H  in applying EU and international energy and environment standards (including measures for prevention of climate change)

TO ADVISE END-USERS on simple, practical steps they can take to improve the energy efficiency of their homes and business facilities

TO INTRODUCE specific legislation for energy efficiency improvement and climate protection in B&H

TO IMPROVE awareness of the core issues in improving energy efficiency as well as critical importance of local action at municipal and business level in Bosnia and Herzegovina
